Our first meeting for the season was held on 9 September. We greatly appreciate Brunswick Cricket Club for hosting the event, with special thanks to Tim and Mick for all their help on the night.
There was an excellent turn out of 68 umpires as can be seen in the photos below, and also the VSDCA Accreditation Officer Penny Keaghran was present to help our new umpires out with their accreditations. The VSDCA Umpiring Department were present and briefed the meeting on what lies ahead this season. At this stage we anticipate having some 25 new umpires joining our ranks.
This meetings main thrust was on the distribution of apparel and other equipment which will allow us to concentrate at our next meeting on 30th September, on the details of new laws and pennant rules that will be coming into effect this season.

Two new items of apparel have been introduced, for wearing by our members to and from their games, with travel shorts and a travel jacket (modelled here by one of our newest life members). We couldn't convince Ian to model the shorts :) These are optional items for our members, and it is something they have been seeking for sometime. At the conclusion of the meeting a very appetising supper was prepared by the resident chef, Mick Moore. Thanks Mick!
