1. Receipt of Volunteer Payments

Volunteer payments have been made for the J G Craig Shield Home & Away matches. The scale of payments is

$155 per match; and/or

$50 for matches abandoned at the ground.

The following table summarises the various combinations for payment

Matches Umpired Payment Match Abandoned Payment

1 155 0 155

1 155 50 205

2 310 0 310

2 310 50 360

3 465 0 465

3 465 50 515

4 620 0 620

4 620 50 670

5 775 0 775

5 775 50 825

If you are unable to understand the payment, in the first instance contact Neill to check your appointment schedule and whether it lines up with the payments. If there is a discrepancy, it can then be referred to the VSDCA Treasurer.

Payments for ordinary VSDCA matches are expected to be made following Round 12.

2. Round 12 – Back to Two-Day Cricket

Please read VSDCA Rule 16 to refresh – we have had very few two-day matches in recent years, so revision might be helpful!

Hours of play are 12.30 pm to 5.35 pm

Tea 3.00 pm to 3.25 pm

Should the batting team be dismissed within 15 minutes of scheduled stumps (i.e., after 5.20 pm) or after completion of the 75th over, then play shall cease UNLESS the second batting team elects to continue.

Please work with captains to maintain the very achievable standard of 17 overs per hour. Provide timely (say, every hour) and courteous advice to the fielding captain, and encourage batters to be ready to face when the bowler is.

Note Rule 16.17, which places on umpires the responsibility to record when overs bowled are fewer than should have been. Allowances may be made, but it is up to umpires to report when over rates are not maintained.

3. Match Report Comments – Spirit of Cricket and Pitch Ratings

Please help the VSDCA to help you, by including a comment for every Spirit of Cricket assessment below 10, and for every Pitch Rating.

The Pitch Ratings are valued intel for our CEO Mr. Ken Hilton to use when speaking with councils. Objective feedback is highly valued.

J G Craig Shield Grand Final Appointments

Thanks to every umpire who participated in any way in this wonderful tournament. Feedback across the board was very positive and reflected so well on all umpires. Beaut job!

Please join in congratulating Rudy Fernandes and David Lock on their appointment to the Grand Final, to be played at Ormond this Sunday from 10.00 am.

Come on down if you can, to see a great game of cricket and support Rudy and David.
