Will we get going, or will Jupiter Pluvius intervene again? Stay tuned, folks…

With wet weather, cold weather, hot weather and dry weather then wet again, it’s been difficult to know whether to light the fire or light the Barbie. We’ve settled for the fire, which is where we sat to consider the week ahead.

Umpire Coach Brian 'Benny' Goodman was concerned that umpires may need some brushing up on the VSDCA one-day match rules, so we’ve outlined some of the key points of VSDCA Rule 17 and 9 here

Notwithstanding the sound advice in that summary, there’s nothing like getting it straight from the horse’s mouth, and by that we mean the VSDCA Handbook. Keep it handy and read it often – that will make you a better umpire, guaranteed.

We are most likely to have another disrupted weekend and some matches might not go ahead; however don’t despair – summer is approaching.

If your game is affected, try to get along to another to see how your umpiring colleagues are going.

Fingers crossed for the weekend – whatever the weather, don’t forget to have fun!
